The German Grand Prix - A Happy Home Coming For Vettel? Print E-mail

 

This incredible season has seen wins for Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and a storming run by last year’s champion, the German, Sebastian Vettel.

 

The 2011 Grand Prix season now arrives at the ace’s homeland this weekend, when racing fans head off for the Formula 1 Grosser Pries Santander Von Deutschland 2011. The German Grand Prix takes place at the Nürburgring circuit, on the village called Nürburg, close to Cologne and Frankfurt.

 

This contemporary track has been in existence since 1984 and extends an awesome 60 laps encompassing an impressive race distance of 308.863 km. The track has an exceptional circuit Length of 5.148 km.

 

The lap record is currently held by another German racing legend, the great Michael Schumacher whom, in 2004, finished the race in an astonishing 1:29.468.

 

The first practice run is due to be carried out between 10:00 - 11:30 (local time) on Friday, with the second taking place in the afternoon. The third practice circuit due to be held on Saturday the 23rd of July 2011 at 11.00. This culminates in a qualifying race at two in the afternoon.

 

The highlight of the weekend is the actual race itself. The motorists will set off at 14.00 on Sunday the 24th of July. Lovers of motor racing will find out if the German Vettel will win on home soil, or if Ferrari's Fernando Alonso will make it two races in a row, after his win at Silverstone two weeks ago.

 

Button, Hamilton and Webber, among a large group of superb drivers, are clamouring to reach the podium. But the German born Vettel seems to be running away with the leader board. Will he get a winners welcome this weekend when he arrives back home in Deutschland?
