The Temperature Rises At the 2011 Formula 1 Gran Premio de España Santander Print E-mail

So the 2011 Grand Prix hits the plains of sunny Spain this weekend.  This is where the fifth round of the season is due to be held. It is the 2011 Formula 1 Gran Premio de España Santander, previously known as The 2011 Spanish Grand Prix. The world famous race meet will take place at Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló on the 22nd of May.

As it stands coming into this next race, the German driver Sebastian Vettel, with Red Bull Racing, has had a remarkable season. The reigning world champion is standing at the top of the Drivers’ Championship with an amazing 93 points.
British racing star Lewis Hamilton, with the McLaren Team, takes second place on the leader board with 58 points. This upcoming meet must hold special memories for the young driver. He took a fast lap over this tack; recording 1:24.357.

Mark Webber, on 55 points, is in bronze position. The Australian Formula One ace drives for Red Bull Racing, along with his team mate Sebastian Vettel. The man who seems always in the spotlight; Britain’s Jenson Button is in fourth place. The McLaren-Mercedes driver currently has 46 points. Fifth on the leader board is Fernando Alonso. The Ferrari driver, from Spain, has amassed a respectable 41 points. The local hero is all set to make an exciting home coming at the the Spanish Grand Prix.

The temperature is set to rise this Sunday, when drivers rev up at the 2011 Formula 1 Gran Premio de España Santander.
