The 2012 Grand Prix season is still reeling from the excitement of that last meet at the world famous Monaco Grand Prix. The world may have celebrated the Queens Diamond Jubilee since then, but it is now the turn of the royalty of motor racing to get back to the track and go for Gold.
This Sunday, the 10th of June, at two in the afternoon local time, they will storm the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal. It is the venue for this weekend’s Formula One Canadian Grand Prix.
The race extends for a thrill packed 70 laps and covers a circuit length of 4.361 km. It first appeared on the Formula One World Championship calendar in 1967. This was the meet won last year by McLaren driver Jenson Button, ahead of Sebastian Vettel.
There will be huge numbers looking on to see who wins in Canada this weekend. Will Button replicate his 2011 success or will Vettel have pay back? Will Mark Webber make it two wins in a row? Will Nico Rosberg better his second place in Monaco or will Fernando Alonso pull off a win to maintain his Number One spot the standings?
Perhaps Buttons teammate Lewis Hamilton put McLarens disappointing showing in Monaco in the past, by the crossing the finish line first?
It also remains to seen if this increasingly unpredictable season produces another surprise. There is the possibly of another driver securing another solitary victory. This will make it seven different winners out of seven races this season?
There is bound to be a festival of fantastic Formula One in Montreal this weekend.
