It is possibly the most famous Formula One race in the world. This is the event which is usually the first thought in peoples mind when they think of motor racing.
It is the glamorous and exciting Monaco Grand Prix, and it is all prepped to go ahead this weekend. The world famous race will be held in Monte Carlo, in this beautiful sovereign state on the French Riviera.
This is the race which has been a cornerstone of Formula One since it began back in 1929. This year’s meet will take place on Sun 27 May 2012 at 14:00, at the celebrated Circuit de Monaco. It is the route taking in the roads of Monte Carlo and La Condamine, along with Monaco’s world renowned harbour. The drivers will be speeding through those streets, in front of cheering crowds, for 78 adrenaline fuelled laps. The circuit will cover a race distance of 260.520 km and a circuit length of 3.340 kms.
Pedestrians behind the barriers on the roadside and guests looking from hotel windows or balconies can watch with baited breath those electrifying cars speed by. This is the race attended by the rich and famous, as well as royalty. The 2012 Monaco Grand Prix though promises to have all of the thrills of a Hollywood movie.
Lovers of Formula One can’t wait to find out what will happen this weekend. Will we have another stunning shock victory, like Williams’ fantastic win in Spain? Will one of the big hitters, like Vettel, Hamilton or Benson cross the finish line first? Or will Fernando Alonso score a win and be undisputed champion of the leader board?
This is certain to be a blistering Grand Prix in the stunning municipality of Monaco!
