We are now in what you would call the home stretch of the 2012 Formula One season and it seems the tide may be changing. It appears, after Fernando Alonso’s surprise exit and Sebastian Vettel’s win at the Japanese Grand Prix, there is a new pretender to the crown. It looked as if Alonso had the championship in the bag, but Vettel is now making a comeback. The next stop in his quest to foil the Spaniard’s championship hopes takes him to Yeongam, for the 2012 Formula 1 Korean Grand Prix.
The race will be staged at The Korea International Circuit this coming Sunday, the 14th of October, at 15:00. The track is to be found near the cities of Mokpo and Seoul in South Korea. This circuit has been hosting the Grand Prix since 2010. It is now the site of an end of season duel between the reigning champion from Red Bull and the driver from Ferrari, whom looked favourite for the title. Vettel, though, is catching up. He won the 2011 Grand Prix championship after Japan and triumphed at last year’s Korean Grand Prix. Can he secure another victory and get the points he needs to overtake Alonso?
The Korea International Circuit is thought to be a fascinating, demanding track. It encompasses a circuit length of 5.615 km and goes on for 55 laps. The lap record is actually held by Vettel. He completed a circuit in 1:39.605 in 2011. The world of motor racing is now wondering if the German can win in Korea once again and maybe seize the championship from Alonso.
