Lovers of motor racing were treated to a blistering race in Germany just last week, but it is now Hungary’s turn to bring on the heat.
We are now half way through the 2012 Grand Prix season, and this beautiful Central European country is staging a potentially enthralling F1 meet this weekend. The capital city of Budapest is the site of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
It is set to take place at the Hungaroring circuit on Sunday the 29th of July at 14:00. The race goes on for an exhilarating 70 laps, over a circuit length of 4.381 km and a race distance of 306.630 km.
It is almost fitting that the very weekend the world comes together for the Olympics that the Hungarian Grand Prix is also taking place. This is after you consider how this particular event was the inaugural F1 meet to be held in a communist country at the height of the Cold War, back in 1986. The current leading teams of the sport, such as Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren, are now battling for Gold in Budapest.
Fernando Alonso strengthened his position on top of the leader board by making it a hat trick of wins at Hockenheim in Germany last week. He will be hoping to secure his fourth win of the season in Hungary, but has advised his team not to be complacent. The championship may not be in the bag quite yet. This is especially considering how close it got between Alonso and Jenson Button in the last race. Button triumphed at the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2011 and will be looking to make it an annual event. He may have some competition though from his own teammate, Lewis Hamilton, along with Webber and Vettel with Red Bull.
If you have a taste for excitement and adventure, then check out the Hungarian Grand Prix.
