Drivers To Raise The Heat at The European Grand Prix in Valencia

The 2012 Grand Prix season is now on the next leg of its adventure, which will stop at Valencia in Spain. It is the site of the Grand Prix of Europe, also known as the European Grand Prix. This one of a kind event is set to go ahead at the stunning Valencia Street Circuit on Sunday the 24th of June at 2pm.

The European Grand Prix was originally an honorific, ceremonial meet when first held in 1923. It was then hosted in Italy. The final honorary European Grand Prix moreover was the British Grand Prix, back in 1977.

The meet was then brought back as a standalone event in the eighties. The first such race was at Brands Hatch in 1983. The European Grand Prix was subsequently held annually up to 1986, but then wasn’t staged again till 1993. The event, moreover, apart from a break in ‘98, has gone on every year since.

The Valencia Street Circuit, in that eponymous, autonomous part of Spain, has hosted The European Grand Prix from 2008 onwards and shall continue to till 2015

The race extends an amazing 57 laps. It takes in a thrilling race distance of 308.883 km, across a circuit length of 5.419 km. The race was won in 2011 by Sebastian Vettel with Red Bull-Renault.

But who will pop open the winners champagne on the podium this year? Will Vettel repeat the trick? Or will Lewis Hamilton make it two victories in a row this season, following his win in Canada a fortnight ago?  Then again, maybe Fernando Alonso will end up on top?

Then again, perhaps will this season’s inexplicable run will continue and witness an eighth different winner out of eight races? We will find out this Sunday, in the plains of sunny Spain.
